The Situation
- The bench and trellis structure was worn out and no longer safe to use.
- The partition wall blocked the view through the window, closing the space in.
- The homeowner wanted the new structure to be sturdy enough for heavy planters or light exercise use, not just decorative.

Backyard Trellis and Custom Bench Reconstruction
What We Did
Demolition & Prep
Removed the existing bench, trellis beam, and three posts, then cleared and prepped the patio and garden area for the rebuild.
Rebuild the Frame
Setting three new 6x6 pressure-treated posts in concrete, topped with a full-span cedar 2x6 beam bolted through with carriage bolts for a frame strong enough to hang heavy plants or take exercise-equipment loads.
Open the Sightline
Cutting down and reinstalling the partition wall to the side, reinforced with new cedar 2x4s top and bottom, so the view through the window is restored.
Rebuild the Bench
Building a new bench base from pressure-treated 4x4s set in concrete, matching the original size and style, with a cedar 2x8 slatted seat for drainage and the same wrap-around 2x8 border finish.
