Removed the damaged framing entirely and rebuilt it from scratch.

Insulate the Hatch
Insulated the hatch panel itself with extruded polystyrene for better thermal performance.

Seal & Weatherproof
Installed new weatherstripping and repaired the vapour barrier around the opening.
4
Boost Attic Insulation
Added more insulation to the surrounding attic space while access was open.
